Pumpkin Cheesecake Protein Coffee

There is something about waking up to the smell of pumpkin spice that makes a fall morning feel extra special. 🎃🍂

This morning, I decided to get ahead of the game and create a Pumpkin Cheesecake Protein Coffee for Bariatric Living with Lisa, and I’m so glad I did!

This coffee combines creamy cheesecake flavor, pumpkin spice, maple bourbon pecan, and homemade pumpkin cold foam into one delicious three-layer drink.

And the best part? It isn’t just delicious—it fits perfectly into the kind of coffee I love making: high-protein, low-carb, and sugar-free.

☕️ Why Add Pumpkin Pie Spice to the Coffee?

Instead of simply adding pumpkin spice to the finished drink, I added Pumpkin Pie Spice directly to my Folgers coffee grounds before brewing.

When the coffee started brewing, my entire kitchen smelled like fall!

The pumpkin spice infused the coffee with a warm, cozy flavor that made the perfect foundation for this drink.

🎃 The Three Delicious Layers

One of my favorite things about this coffee is that you can actually see the three layers in the glass.

1. Cheesecake Layer

I started with a vanilla protein shake and added 2 teaspoons of sugar-free cheesecake pudding mix.

I mixed it really well until the pudding mix was completely incorporated.

This creates a creamy cheesecake-flavored base that makes this coffee taste like dessert!

2. Pumpkin-Spiced Coffee Layer

Next, I added ice and a drizzle of Maple Bourbon Pecan Skinny Syrup.

Then I poured in my freshly brewed pumpkin-spiced coffee.

The maple bourbon pecan flavor pairs beautifully with the pumpkin spice and cheesecake.

3. Pumpkin Cold Foam

Now for my favorite part!

I combined:

  • Heavy cream
  • A drizzle of Maple Bourbon Pecan Skinny Syrup
  • A spoonful of pumpkin puree

I frothed everything together until it became light and creamy, then gently poured the pumpkin cold foam over the coffee.

Finally, I sprinkled a little Salted Caramel Salt over the top.

🤎 The Finished Coffee

The combination is incredible!

You get creamy cheesecake flavor from the bottom, rich pumpkin-spiced coffee in the middle, and a fluffy pumpkin cold foam on top.

The Maple Bourbon Pecan Skinny Syrup ties everything together and adds a delicious fall sweetness without adding regular sugar.

And visually, those three layers make this coffee so much fun to serve!

One of the things I love most about making my own coffee creations is that I don’t have to give up the flavors I love just because I’m living a bariatric lifestyle.

Pumpkin spice season doesn’t have to mean giving up your protein goals!

This Pumpkin Cheesecake Protein Coffee gives me all those cozy fall flavors while keeping my coffee protein-forward, low-carb, and sugar-free.

And honestly… waking up to the smell of pumpkin spice coffee brewing might just be the best part! ☕️🎃

A Day in My Bariatric Life: Meals, Grocery Shopping & Behind the Scenes

One of the questions I get asked most often is what my everyday life actually looks like. While I love sharing recipes and cooking videos, there’s so much more that goes into living a healthy bariatric lifestyle.

So today, I thought I’d take you along for a typical day!

From my morning coffee to my meals throughout the day, you’ll see the foods that help me stay on track while still enjoying what I eat. Eating enough protein, staying hydrated, and making balanced choices have become part of my daily routine, and I hope seeing my day gives you ideas for your own journey.

You’ll also come shopping with me as I pick up ingredients for future recipes. I enjoy looking for products that fit my bariatric lifestyle while still keeping meals flavorful and satisfying.

One of my favorite parts of this video is showing you what happens behind the scenes. Creating YouTube videos involves much more than simply turning on a camera. From planning recipes and shopping to filming, editing, and sharing with all of you, every video is truly a labor of love.

Whether you’re considering bariatric surgery, are years into your journey, or are simply looking for healthier meal ideas, I hope this video reminds you that healthy living doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about making intentional choices one day at a time.

Thank you for spending the day with me. Your encouragement and support mean the world to me, and I’m so grateful you’re part of the Bariatric Living with Lisa community.

If you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes look, let me know! I’d love to create more lifestyle vlogs, grocery hauls, meal prep videos, and “What I Eat in a Day” content in the future.

Bariatric Myths vs Reality: What’s Actually Normal After Surgery

Life after bariatric surgery comes with a lot of opinions—and unfortunately, a lot of myths. Over time, these myths can turn into guilt, fear, and the feeling that you’re “doing it wrong.”

Let’s clear a few things up.

Myth: You’ll never be hungry again.
Reality: Hunger can come back, especially months or years post-op. Hunger does not mean your surgery failed. It’s normal. At least for me, it’s normal.

Myth: Regain means you failed.
Reality: Weight fluctuations happen. Regain is feedback, not failure. It’s a chance to reassess habits—not a reason to quit.

Myth: You can’t eat carbs ever again.
Reality: Carbs aren’t the enemy. Balance, portion awareness, and protein-first choices matter more than cutting out entire food groups.

Myth: Protein has to be boring.
Reality: Protein can be delicious, satisfying, and creative. Eating well doesn’t have to feel like punishment.

What about cravings and scale stalls?
Cravings happen. Stalls happen. Neither one means you’ve messed everything up. Consistency matters more than perfection, and one off day doesn’t erase progress.

One habit I never skip:
Getting back to basics. Protein first. Hydration. Grace.

If you’re navigating life after bariatric surgery and wondering if what you’re experiencing is normal—chances are, it is. You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re learning how to live in this new season.

And that counts.

Sugar-Free Apple Cranberry Dump Cake

  4. Evenly spread the zero-sugar cake mix over the fruit.

Sleeve vs SIPS: Two Bariatric Surgeries, One Friendship

As I continue sharing my rediscovered 2018 bariatric videos on Bariatric Living 101, today’s video holds a very special place in my heart.

In this throwback video, I’m joined by my friend Penny. Penny and I met at the bariatric center and ended up having our surgeries on the exact same day. While we walked into surgery together, we chose two different bariatric procedures. I had Sleeve Gastrectomy, and Penny chose SIPS.

A Quick Protein Taste Test Before the Talk

Before our discussion begins, I share a quick taste test of a protein pudding I picked up from Aldi and give my honest thoughts. Finding protein-focused foods that actually taste good is a big part of bariatric life — and I’ve always believed in keeping things real.

Sleeve Gastrectomy vs SIPS: Our Experiences

In our conversation, Penny and I talk openly about:

  • What led us to choose different surgeries
  • How Sleeve Gastrectomy and SIPS differ
  • Early recovery experiences
  • What life looked like shortly after surgery

This wasn’t about saying one surgery is better than the other — it was about sharing real experiences so others could feel informed while making their own decisions.

Why I’m Sharing This Video Now

Many people following Bariatric Living 101 today are still in the research phase of their bariatric journey. Hearing firsthand experiences from patients who chose different paths can be incredibly valuable — and this video captures that honesty from the very beginning of my journey.

If you’re considering bariatric surgery, newly post-op, or just looking for community, I hope this video reminds you that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach — only the choice that’s right for you.

Reintroducing My 2018 Bariatric Journey | Why I Chose Sleeve Gastrectomy

Today, I’m sharing a very personal piece of my past — my original 2018 introduction video from when I first talked openly about my health struggles and the road that led me to Sleeve Gastrectomy. As I relaunch my channel under Bariatric Living 101, I felt it was important to bring this video with me. It’s the foundation of everything I’ve learned and everything I share today.

My Health Was Declining, and I Knew Something Had to Change

Back in 2018, I was facing several developing health issues that were affecting my everyday life. I didn’t feel like myself anymore, and it became clear that something had to change. Bariatric surgery wasn’t an easy decision, but it was a necessary one — a medically supported choice to reclaim my health and my future.

Why I’m Sharing This Video Again

Many people who follow me now weren’t here in 2018. They may be just beginning their own bariatric journey or researching sleeve gastrectomy. I wanted to reintroduce this video to remind new viewers (and even myself) where this all started.

This video is raw, honest, and full of emotion — and it represents the moment I chose hope.

A New Chapter with Bariatric Living 101

Bariatric Living 101 is all about living a protein-forward, low-carb lifestyle after bariatric surgery. Today, I share recipes, tips, honest experiences, and real-life bariatric living — but it all began with the story you’ll see in this video.

Bariatric-Friendly Finds at Buc-ee’s: Protein-Packed Road Trip Snacks & a Sweet Surprise!

If you’ve ever been on a long road trip, you know how tough it can be to find healthy, protein-forward options at gas stations. But on my recent vacation, I stopped at the legendary Buc-ee’s, and wow — it completely changed how I look at road trip food stops!

When I walked in, I was instantly blown away by the size and variety of this place. It’s not your average convenience store — it’s more like a highway superstore filled with snacks, fresh food, and fun finds.

I started by checking out their White Cheddar Nug-ee’s, which are a crunchy, flavorful treat if you want something light. Then I discovered the massive coffee and tea station — perfect if you bring your protein shake or powder along to make a quick protein coffee!

To my surprise, Buc-ee’s also had yogurt parfaits, salads, and fruit cups — all fresh and easy to grab for a healthier meal on the go. And of course, no visit would be complete without exploring their World-Famous Wall of Jerky. There are so many high-protein options to choose from, including freshly made jerky in their deli display case.

And yes… I did treat myself to their famous Banana Pudding — and it was absolutely worth it!

Whether you’re traveling post-bariatric surgery or just looking for smarter road trip choices, Buc-ee’s has more to offer than you might expect. So next time you see one on the highway, stop in and explore — you’ll be surprised how easy it is to stay on track and still enjoy the journey!

Protein Caramel Maple Bourbon Pecan Latte

A Cozy Fall Coffee Moment—Even While Traveling

There’s something about a cozy latte that just feels like home, even when you’re not at home. While visiting my husband’s family on vacation, I found myself missing my morning coffee routine — so I decided to recreate it, right there in their kitchen!

It felt a little awkward setting up to film while staying with family (I’m sure some of you can relate 😅), but once that caramel started drizzling and the espresso aroma filled the air, I was in my happy place again.

This Protein Caramel Maple Bourbon Pecan Latte combines rich espresso, a creamy protein shake, and the cozy warmth of caramel and maple bourbon pecan. It’s like fall in a mug — and the best part? It’s packed with protein and totally bariatric-friendly.

Here’s how to make it:

  • 2 shots of espresso
  • 1 can of Nurri Protein Shake (steamed)
  • Line your cup with Skinny Mixes Salted Caramel Sauce
  • Add a splash of Jordan’s Caramel Skinny Syrup
  • Add a splash of Jordan’s Maple Bourbon Pecan Skinny Syrup
  • Drizzle a little extra caramel on top
  • Sprinkle with Salted Caramel Salt

Give it a stir and enjoy that creamy, sweet, slightly salty sip of comfort.

Even when life gets a little out of routine — like traveling or staying with family — having something small and familiar can bring a sense of calm. For me, that’s my morning coffee.

So whether you’re at home or away, I hope this cozy little recipe brings you the same comfort it brought me. 💛

I’ve learned that a little preparation makes all the difference. In this post, I’m sharing what I pack for a bariatric-friendly trip — everything from my protein staples to my daily vitamins — so you can stay consistent, feel your best, and still enjoy your time away.

🧳 My Bariatric Travel Essentials

1. Protein Shakes & Drinks
Protein is the foundation of my day, so I always make sure to pack my favorite ready-to-drink shakes. They’re quick, easy, and keep me full when I’m on the go.

2. Sugar-Free Syrups
Coffee is a must when traveling — but I love flavor without the sugar! I bring a few of my Jordan’s Skinny Syrups in travel-size bottles for quick, guilt-free flavor options wherever I go.

3. Portable Ninja Blender & Frother
These are game-changers for making protein coffee, shakes, or even quick smoothies right in the hotel room. My frother takes up almost no space and gives me that coffee shop feel every morning!

4. Vitamins & Medications
Routine is key. I pack a weekly pill organizer with all my bariatric vitamins and any medications, so I never miss a day — even with a busy travel schedule.

5. Protein Snacks
A few go-to travel snacks like protein bars, jerky, or low-carb cheese crisps help me avoid airport temptations and stay satisfied between meals.

🌟 Tips for Staying on Track While Traveling

  • Plan ahead: Bring what you know works for you instead of hoping to find it on the road.
  • Hydrate often: Flights, long drives, and salty snacks can sneak up on you — keep a refillable water bottle handy.
  • Don’t stress perfection: Vacations are about balance — enjoy the experience, make mindful choices, and get back on track with your next meal.

💬 Final Thoughts

Traveling after bariatric surgery doesn’t mean leaving your healthy habits behind. With a little planning, you can feel confident, prepared, and ready to enjoy your vacation — protein shake in hand!
